Below are a few examples of how PCI works with customers to solve unique and challenging problems with custom formulated coatings.  Please feel free to contact us and discuss your unique situation to see if PCI can help.
Manufactured Housing Problem: At the request from a builder who works in the gulf coast region, a modular home builder needed a coating that could mitigate mold growth on wood and drywall and also act as a barrier to termite infestation.   They also needed assistance in managing the ability to apply the coating in the areas that needed protection.

Solution: PCI created an easy to use, water based coating that provided a coating that prevents mold growth which could be used on both structural wood and drywall. The product was further engineered to provide a barrier to termites, bringing added value to the builder. With a strong background in coating application processes, PCI assisted in the integration of the coating into the modular home manufacturing process, minimizing disruption to the production flow. Wineries InteriorProblem: Wineries need to keep the wine making areas exceptionally clean to reduce contamination and fouling of wine. Winemakers regularly clean and disinfect these areas to control mold, fungus and bacteria.

Solution: PCI created a coating that resists the growth of mold, fungus and odor causing bacteria for the walls and ceilings of the wine making areas. The coating was custom formulated to have zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and no halogenated compounds, both contributors to TCA, a troubling contaminate for the winemaking industry.
Water Irrigation Districts InteriorProblem: Water irrigation districts were in need of a way to manage aquatic growth on the surface of canals. Algal growth on the surface slows water flow, and deteriorates the canal surface, leading to water leaking out of the canal. Current solutions include mechanical removal of algae and the use of bulk pesticides in the water.

Solution: PCI is formulating a product that will be applied to the canal surface and provide a coating which will mitigate the growth of Algae. This will reduce maintenance costs, prolong the life of the canal, and eliminate the need for introducing large volumes of pesticide into the irrigation water.
Apple Industry InteriorProblem: The apple processing industry is constantly looking for ways to reduce apple spoilage due to mold and bacteria growth. This is particularly true in the cold storage facilities used to hold apples as they wait for processing.

Solution: Two potential sources for mold and fungus contamination are the walls of the cold storage facilities and the bins in which the apples are stored. PCI developed coatings for both these applications, formulating an FDA compliant product specifically for the bins. These products mitigate mold growth on their surfaces, reducing the likelihood of apple spoilage, saving money and increasing yields for the producers.
